Our mission is to ignite a love for reading and empower young minds through storytelling. Job Summary: We are seeking a creative and passionate Content Creator/Writer to join our team. In this role, you will focus on creating new, original stories and educational materials for children. Additionally, you will develop content for the Book Bytes website, including blog posts, updates, and new pages that engage our audience and align with our mission. You will ensure that all content is culturally inclusive, appeals to children of diverse races and cultures within South Africa, and is age-appropriate for different groups up to 13 years old. This position is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about storytelling, children’s education, and using their writing skills to make a positive impact. Key Responsibilities: Create new, original stories and educational materials that align with Book Bytes’ mission and resonate with our target audience of children. Develop content for the website, including engaging blog posts, updates on organizational activities, and new pages that enhance the website’s appeal and functionality. Ensure that all content is culturally inclusive and appeals to children of diverse races, cultures, and backgrounds within South Africa. Tailor content to be age-appropriate, catering to different age groups up to 13 years old, ensuring it is engaging and educational for each group. Collaborate with the educational content team to ensure that all written materials are educationally valuable and resonate with the intended audience. Work closely with the Graphic Designer and Multimedia Content Specialist to integrate visual elements into written content, ensuring a cohesive and engaging presentation. Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency with the organization’s voice and tone. Conduct research to support content development, ensuring that all materials are well-informed and relevant to the target audience. Stay updated on trends in children’s literature and educational content, incorporating new ideas and approaches into your work. Provide input on content strategies that support the organization’s goals and enhance its mission. Qualifications: Proven experience as a writer or content creator, with a strong portfolio showcasing storytelling and educational content for children. Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail. Ability to create engaging and educational content that resonates with children and aligns with the organization’s mission. Experience in developing content for websites, including blog posts and updates. Strong research skills and the ability to create well-informed and accurate content. Ability to work independently and manage multiple content projects simultaneously. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
