Position Type: Volunteer / Advisory (Non-voting Board Role) Organization: Skills of Life Cafe Location: Santa Cruz, CA Commitment: Estimated 4-6 hours/month Reports to: Executive Director / Board Chair About Us Skills of LIfe Cafe empowers neurodiverse teens and young adults, including those with mild intellectual disabilities, through vocational training in a real-world café setting. Our mission is to build inclusive workforce pathways and skills for long-term success and independence. Role Summary We are seeking a passionate Community Engagement & Outreach Advisor. This strategic, non-voting advisory role helps expand our reach in the community, build partnerships, and foster awareness of our mission. Key Responsibilities ● Build relationships with local schools, employers, civic groups, disability organizations, and other nonprofits ● Identify outreach and partnership opportunities that align with our mission ● Represent the organization at events, fairs, and community meetings ● Guide strategies for parent/family engagement and volunteer recruitment ● Serve as a community ambassador to increase awareness and support Qualifications ● Experience in community outreach, engagement, education, or nonprofit relations ● Strong connector and communicator with a heart for inclusion and equity ● Knowledge of, or ties to local communities, schools, or business networks ● Ability to lead volunteers or a small committee ● Passion for working with or advocating for neurodiverse populations ● Previous nonprofit, advisory, or volunteer board experience a plus Time Commitment ● Approx. 4-6 hours/month ● Attend select community events or help coordinate organizational representation ● Available for consultation with staff or advisors as needed What You’ll Gain ● An opportunity to lead and make meaningful community impact ● A network of mission-aligned changemakers ● Recognition across our platforms and in community events (if desired) ● A fulfilling experience building inclusion and opportunity for underserved youth To Express Interest Please contact Molly Turner at Skillsoflife20@gmail.com We welcome the chance to share more about our work and how you can help us expand our community presence and impact.

Our mission is to build inclusive workforce pathways and skills for long-term success and independence. Role Summary We are seeking a Legal Advisor to serve on our Board of Advisors. This non-voting, strategic role will provide occasional legal guidance and support to help protect and strengthen our organization as we grow. You’ll advise on issues like nonprofit compliance, contracts, employment law, and liability-ensuring that our mission is backed by solid legal footing.
