About DART: Direct Action Response Team (DART) is a nationwide network of highly trained volunteers dedicated to providing rapid disaster response and relief. Our mission is to support overwhelmed first responders during natural and man-made disasters by deploying specialized teams for search and rescue (SAR) operations. With a goal to deploy within 5 hours of an emergency, DART ensures communities receive timely, life-saving assistance. Position Overview: We are seeking certified Search and Rescue (SAR) volunteers to join our network. As part of the DART team, you will be on standby to deploy quickly to disaster areas across the U.S. to assist in emergency search and rescue efforts. This role is ideal for experienced SAR professionals looking to make an immediate impact during crisis situations. Key Responsibilities: Be ready to deploy within 5 hours of notification to disaster areas. Conduct search and rescue missions in collaboration with local authorities and other emergency teams. Assist in locating and evacuating individuals from danger zones. Operate SAR equipment and follow established safety protocols during operations. Provide real-time updates and coordinate with DART leadership during deployments. Qualifications: Must be SAR certified (urban, wilderness, or water rescue preferred). Strong understanding of search and rescue operations, including technical rescue methods. Physical fitness and readiness for deployment in challenging environments. Ability to work well under pressure in disaster zones. Commitment to respond on short notice for deployments. Key Responsibilities: Research and identify potential grant opportunities aligned with DART’s mission. Write clear, compelling, and well-structured grant proposals, applications, and reports. Collaborate with leadership to gather relevant information for proposals, including data, financials, and organizational impact. Maintain an organized database of grant deadlines, applications, and reporting requirements. Monitor and report on the status of submitted grants. Qualifications: Strong writing, research, and communication skills. Previous experience in grant writing (volunteer or professional) is preferred. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Attention to detail and a passion for DART’s mission to respond to disasters. Experience with nonprofit fundraising and understanding of funding sources is a plus. For someone to fill the Fundraising and Event Coordinator role, they should ideally meet the following requirements: Passion for DART’s Mission: A genuine interest in disaster response and relief efforts. Event Planning Experience: Prior experience organizing events or managing projects (volunteer or professional experience is acceptable). Fundraising Knowledge: Familiarity with fundraising strategies, donor relations, or online fundraising platforms. Strong Communication Skills: Ability to engage donors, sponsors, and community partners effectively, both verbally and in writing.
