Mission Statement
To expose diverse communities to the rich cultural heritage of Africa and the African Diaspora through art, dance, music, song, theatrical presentations and visual mediums. By embracing these traditional art forms, we bring together communities of every background to celebrate and share a rich heritage with all those who embrace it.
Description
Through weekly technique classes; Annual dance conference and performance; Summer Stage presentation with Works in Process July, 2024; Featured performance in the African Arts Festival 53rd annual celebration; Instructor annually with the Ronald K. Brown Evidence Dance Workshop Series; And most recently a collaboration with Les Ballet Afrik to create a piece that bridges the gap between traditional-contemporary-vogue-house-afrobeat; The Maimouna Keita School of African Dance and drum strives to share cultural knowledge with the community and celebrate the differences that unite us.
