Mission Statement

The TriWay Trail, a 9.5-mile proposed path between historic Kilmarnock, Irvington and White Stone in Virginia's Northern Neck region is viewed as the flagship initiative for its residents. It'll be first of its kind - a public-private partnership to ensure all-resident access to free recreational facilities which will increase tourism without motorized vehicles while improving health and livability with equitable open space via connective biking/walking infrastructure.

Description

Lancaster County, VA is a centrally located coastal community with sophisticated amenities and attracts retirees. It's the quality-of-life leader in eastern Virginia and among America's two most elderly rural counties.

The nine-mile trail links Kilmarnock, Irvington and White Stone villages with key service providers including a hospital, YMCA, free health clinic and schools. It also has dining options, shops and entertainment facilities.

Tourism built the retirement market. TriWay Trail can build millennial sensibility. Hampton Roads and Richmond are fastest-growing cities in U.S., Washington, D.C., is thriving with Amazon HQ2 fueling sector growth.

The TriWay Trail appeals to millennials seeking experiences. It is ideal for remote workers and small businesses post-COVID.

Due to limited staffing, community volunteers are facilitating this initiative under a public/private partnership with Lancaster County. The Board of Supervisors approves actions and pledges financial support for related grants as the applicant.

TriWay Trail: rural project complements $100M in investments, improves health of aging population, boosts local economy and attracts diverse workforce.
