Veteran Volunteer: Goal is to offer veteran patients a form of connection and ability to relate and understand their experiences. Veteran Pinning: Each time a veteran is admitted to our services, we have a pinning ceremony to recognize their sacrifices. The We Honor Veterans Program is dedicated to providing more Veteran-centric hospice care at end of life. Heartland has achieved and maintained our Level 5 Star status; this means our staff has additional education and training for our Vietnam era and combat veterans. This opportunity would involve a volunteer who is comfortable and willing to travel to a patient's home or the facility they live in. The Volunteer Coordinator will provide more information after being contacted. The location listed is the Midland Office.

Friendly Visitor: Heartland Hospice is looking for a volunteer that is compassioante, enjoys socializing, and provides emotional support for patients and their families. Our wonderful clinical team focuses on providing care, while the volunteer coordinator focuses on the social aspects of life. If you've experienced a family member or loved one passing, you are able to empathize and understand what these families are going through. If you're able to spend some time visiting with a patient, you can help them during a time of uncertainty. Patients and volunteers are matched based on location and personalities for the best fit. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older to be friendly visitors.

Hello! Heartland Hospice is looking for volunteers to join our volunteer program. We're seeking empathetic volunteers who are interested in spending quality time with patients, engaging in conversation, and offering caregiver and family relief. Our clinical team focuses on providing care while the Volunteer Coordinator focuses on socialization and emotional support. Location: Depending on where the patients reside (private homes or facilities) changes the location of volunteering. All of the training and education necessary for successful will be provided by our Volunteer Coordinator. Due to the sensitive nature of our business, Heartland Volunteers are held to the same expectations as our employees, which is why our onboarding process is thorough. After onboarding, when a patient needs volunteer services, the Volunteer Coordinator will assign the best-fit volunteer to this patient. From here, there will be a scheduled number of visits per 30 days. (VOLUNTEERS DO NOT PROVIDE CARE TO PATIENTS)

The Volunteer Coordinator oversees all volunteers and assigns administrative tasks, such as making admission binders, helping with employee recognition, assisting with mass mailings, etc. Office volunteers do not interact with Heartland patients. Due to the healthcare industry being of sensitive nature, it is our duty to conduct a thorough screening of volunteers.

Administrative Volunteer- Located in the Midland Office. Adminstrative volunteers can be asked to do paperwork, mailings, filing, answer or make phone calls, creating admission binders, and other tasks that are required for the office to run smoothly. Volunteers are able to work independently, understanding written and oral directions Friendly Visitor Volunteer - visit with a patient that has been assigned to them for extra support during a time of need. Volunteer visits are an additional source of socialization for the patient and family members. Often time, patients enjoy exchanging stories, talking about their interested and watching thier favorite shows. Volunteers are required to documentation each patient visit and send to the Volunteer Coordinator. More infromation can be provided training. Attention VETERANS: At Heartland Hospice, we are WHV 5 Star Certified, which means our organization values, respects, and recognizes our Veteran patients through several activities like Veteran Pinnings, Vet-Vet Socializations, Final Salutes, and specific veteran trainings!
