Description

i understand is a non-profit organization that offers compassionate comfort, hope and understanding for those affected by suicide or mental/brain health illness and pain. When Vonnie lost her husband Rob to suicide in 2003, she found herself longing for one thing in particular: understanding. Vonnie and her children created the non-profit in 2014 to help others endure the same grief, loneliness, and misunderstanding they felt for over a decade. They had three simple
goals: create a community of support, love, hope and understanding, create awareness about suicide and mental/brain health issues and help others feel less alone.

i understand has become a haven of compassionate comfort, hope, understanding and a powerful voice in the movement to change the way we talk about mental/brain health illness and suicide. We are proud of the support given to help others after a devastating loss, support those who may be struggling, and bring the conversation to everyday places to reduce the stigma associated.
