Mission Statement
The Fort LeBoeuf Historical Society strives to preserve and promote the history of the Fort LeBoeuf region and beyond through educational outreach programs, historic preservation, and living history to engage the current and future generations.
Description
The Fort LeBoeuf Historical Society was created in 1975 by a dedicated group of citizens to save the historic Eagle Hotel in Waterford, Pa from demolition. Throughout its decades of activity it has preserved the history and heritage of the region through the preservation of the Eagle Hotel, creation of the Waterford Heritage Days event and educational outreach programs. In 2014, the organization entered a new era when we created our historic campus which includes the Eagle Hotel, the Amos Judson House, Fort LeBoeuf Museum, George Washington Statue Memorial Park, FLB Center, & the 18th Century Garden and Living History Village. We continue preserve the history and heritage of the region through our exhibits across our campus with an all volunteer staff. We are actively expanding our role as the sole location in Erie County for regular living history demonstrations & experiences. Throughout the year, the organization hosts several events and classes to promote our campus and preserve the history of the region.
