Mission Statement
Beneficial Pain is a Baltimore based non-profit that identifies pain points in underserved communities and creates equitable solutions. Our initiatives combat food insecurity, homelessness, poverty and educational barriers while building community with those we serve. By redirecting our mindset around pain; we choose to make it beneficial, and through our work, we inspire others to do the same.
Description
In 2019, nine high school graduates discussed the concept of 'Beneficial Pain.' The concept became a reality when William Wingo was diagnosed with testicular cancer. From then on, Beneficial Pain shared his story of making his cancer beneficial, and we shared it with anyone who would listen.
Since then, we have grown into one of the most potent and innovative not-for-profits in the city of Baltimore. We have awarded over $25,000 in college scholarships, established programs that address homelessness and in 2020 created Joshua’s Pantry to combat food insecurity in Baltimore.
