Mission Statement

We aim to promote community involvement and engagement throughout Philadelphia by targeting issues within the community and devising a plan to recruit local volunteers, businesses, organizations and community leaders to help us in working toward a solution.

The Block Gives Back is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded by a group of individuals born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Lincoln High School, the group worked together in an effort to stop complaining about the adversities faced due to city life and to instead devise solutions to eliminate the issues. Currently, the board of directors includes a number of the original founders of TBGB and has grown to include more like-minded individuals rich in knowledge and experience of what it is like to live in Philadelphia.

For the last eight years, The Block Gives Back has continued to serve community members of Philadelphia while proactively engaging and staying relevant to the ever-changing needs of the community. In doing this, The Block Gives Back has become a concrete support to inspiring individuals, blocks, and neighborhoods to become self-sufficient. In recognizing that it takes a village to make things happen, TBGB has been enabled to work directly with local community organizations, businesses, and members to create systems change, recruit volunteers, and identify key community leaders to support community initiatives and accomplish mission goals. The Block Gives Back members share a vision that communities and leaders who work together to tackle societal issues have the power to change lives, and create connected neighborhoods and stronger communities.
