Mission Statement

Stone Soup Theatre Co (SSTC) is a non-profit theatre company in Durham and Chapel Hill, NC. Dedicated to supporting local artists and creating inclusive community-based performances, we offer a range of plays, musicals, and pre-professional training programs. Stone Soup aims to provide a platform for emerging talent and to make theatre accessible to all.

Stone Soup was founded in 2021 just as the arts were re-emerging after the pandemic by director Melissa Dombrowski and music director Joanna Sisk-Purvis. Each year it has increased its season by one show. Now entering its fourth season, Stone Soup will be producing "Godspell", "Guys on Ice, an Ice Fishing Musical", "The Important of Being Earnest" and "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown." Stone Soup additionally offers a fellowship and professional mentorship to teen students wanting a career in design or technical theatre. Our overreaching goal is to create an inclusive, community serving theatre in the eastern part of the Triangle that provides quality theatre by local artists to our neighbors. Stone Soup Theatre Company is a vibrant community of passionate local artists who believe in the importance of community and the power of the performing arts. We pride ourselves on being friendly, engaging and welcoming.

In the short term, we need to find a permanent home for our productions. The cost of renting existing venues has sky rocketed to where we pay more in one week than we would in a month if we had a lease for our own space. Our financial stability and longevity depends on us making this leap. We are primarily looking for volunteers who can help us through this transition as we look to market ourselves, reach donors, fundraise, and partner with local businesses.
