The Apostles’ House is looking for a detail-oriented and focused volunteer coordinator to be responsible for our database of volunteers and volunteer opportunities. The volunteer coordinator's responsibilities include recruiting and training new volunteers, keeping a database of volunteer information and skills, matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skills, keeping volunteers informed, and conveying the organization's purpose to the public. A successful volunteer coordinator should be meticulous about keeping records and passionate about volunteer work. You should uphold the values of the Apostles’ House while ensuring the comfort of our volunteers in their positions and ensure that all volunteers are knowledgeable and feel valued. This is a flexible/hybrid (remote/in person) role. Responsibilities include: Working with the Development Department to maintain strong, positive relationships with collaborative partners ensuring that mutually agreed upon expectations are being met. Collaborating with program and executive leadership in developing and maintaining a comprehensive list of involvement opportunities throughout the organization and all locations for individual, group volunteers and collaborative partnerships. Serving as the primary point of contact for all requests to volunteer/collaborate including, telephone, voice mail, email, and written requests and ensure a timely response. Developing and maintain complete and accurate records including volunteer policies, procedures, position descriptions, standards of conduct and, where applicable, criminal background checks. Assisting in the development of appropriate collateral materials for recruitment of volunteers. Conducting shelter tours for prosspective volunteers as needed. Assisting in the recruitment, training, and supervision of new volunteers. Collecting volunteer information, availability, and skills, and maintaining an up-to-date database. Using marketing tools such as e-mails, Slack and G-Suite Keeping new and existing volunteers informed about the organization and volunteer opportunities. Matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skill sets, and ensuring they understand their responsibilities and receive the proper training. Keeping schedules and records of volunteers' work.Ensuring codes of conduct and operating procedures for volunteers are upheld to he organization's values. Ensuring the organization's purpose is conveyed to the public. Minimum Requirements: ● An associate's degree in business management, human resources, or a related field. ● Experience in volunteering and recruitment. ● Working knowledge of databases (G-Suite; Excel) ● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. ● Excellent organization and team-building skills. ● Knowledge of Social Media Platforms (Preferred ) Skills ● Proficient in basic computer applications ● Strong written and verbal communications. ● Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers from varying organizations and companies Capabilities ● Demonstrated capability to conduct one’s self in a calm and professional demeanor when dealing with the public and/or with difficult situations ● Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff and volunteers ● Ability to effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects, and responsibilities ● Ability to work productively in an unstructured environment with frequent interruptions Time Commitments ● This is an unpaid role. Hours are flexible and during normal business hours Monday through Friday, between 9am-5pm ● Available for special events, meetings and trainings ● Schedule will vary based on program needs Physical Requirements: Person in this position must be able to sit, stand for extended periods of time.
