Mission Statement

The mission of the Kittery Historical and Naval Society is to encourage the study of local history and to operate a public museum to display its collections.

Description

The Museum is a treasure trove of local history. It is chock-a-block full of Kittery's rich past, including artifacts from its maritime and military heritage. Visit the Museum to see them for yourself! This is a drop-in kind of place. The Museum is self-guided, and we'll provide a directory of exhibits when you come in. Children can do a scavenger hunt, and a 25-minute movie is available for all.

Since it opened in 1977, the Museum has expanded its collections from days gone by. We focus on the history of Kittery and its naval heritage.
