Mission Statement
Rebuilding Exchange invests in our communities by reusing building materials, reducing construction waste, and training, supporting, and connecting people seeking careers in the building trades.
Description
Once upon a time, Rebuilding Exchange and Evanston Rebuilding Warehouse were doing good work in their respective locations and realized they shared a lot in common. So the two directors met for Happy Hour to see if a stronger partnership might make sense.
Turns out that a merger made the most sense. Combining the institutional knowledge, specific expertise, and local connections, a merged entity could become a major player in the reuse and community workforce space. Sharing pretty much identical missions and values was the icing on the cake.
Now joined under the banner of Rebuilding Exchange, our same Evanston and Chicago locations offer more resources, more capacity, and stronger strategic partnerships as we pursue a nonprofit mission that unites greater Chicagoland.
The past year has been transformational for Rebuilding Exchange in so many ways. Over the past 12 months:
● Our workforce training programs served more than 100 people, helping them to prepare and enter
building trades jobs and apprenticeship programs.
● We diverted 3.5 million pounds of reusable building materials from landfills.
● More than 2,200 people have participated in our workshops and community outreach programs.
