Mission Statement

Co-create socio-ecologic resilience in Amazonian riverside communities utilizing regenerative land management practices and alternative education.

Description

Located in the Yanayacu Amazon basin, where we have shared experiences for over 20 years with 3 riverside communities: San Juan de Yanayacu, Junin, and Ayacucho Tipishca, and to support local resilience, Muyuna Lodge has formed the NGO, Muyuna Foundation, promoting greater attention to the environmental and social well-being of the Yanayacu basin.

The Muyuna Foundation is committed to ensuring socio-environmental resilience in the buffer zone of the Tamishyacu-Tahuayo Regional Conservation Area (ACRTT) consistently and for a long period of time, as well as demanding the resolution of various local issues that we face daily. We articulate and implement regenerative actions that sustain the sustainability of local projects by presenting a platform that facilitates collaborative work among international, national, and local allies. As of May 2025, we have focused on the following initiatives:

A) Complementary education program consistently tutoring high school students in San Juan de Yanayacu to assist in academic leveling (23 students).

B) Waste management in the Yanayacu basin focusing on composting and recycling, collecting over 1 tons of recyclables and generating 4 tons of compost.

C) Collaborative construction of a community house (220 m2) managed, worked on, and financed jointly by the beneficiary (San Juan de Yanayacu) and the funder (Muyuna Foundation).

D) Lead with the local community a series of conservation campaigns centered around the endangered turtle species "taricaya."
