Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide practical education, training, and support to promote composting and solid waste reduction through reuses, repurposing, and recycling, creating sustainable and resilient communities.
Description
To promote public awareness of recycling issues and facilitate reduction of waste through education and other activities. Currently we have two demonstration sites, one at SW WA Fairgrounds and the other Floral Park Sustainability Project, next to the Lewis County Transfer Station where we demonstrate recycling and composting ideas and opportunities in Lewis County. We also host two Leaf Exchanges in the Fall where community members bring bagged leaves from their yard and other community members pick up those bags of leaves for their yard. Annually, we have a Christmas Tree and Lights recycling event open to the community from Dec. 26th thru Jan. 12th. In addition, we offer free community education classes on a variety of topics ranging from worm composting to the 3 R's, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. We most recently received a two-year WA Department of Ecology Grant to host two Repair Fairs and a Tool Library (MRC Tool Bucket Library) at Floral Park. We are looking for Volunteer Fixers, Tool Librarians, Tool Fixers/Maintenance and Tool Cataloger/Inventory. We also plan to host several Tool Recycling events as well.
