Mission Statement
CAREERS Support Solutions is a not-for-profit organization that finds productive employment for individuals with learning, intellectual, developmental, psychiatric and/or physical disabilities as well as long-term unemployed; provides extensive on-the-job training and ongoing support services; educates employers and the community about the benefits of hiring workers with disabilities; and forms effective partnerships with employees, employers and families. CAREERS’ fundamental goal is to assist its clients in achieving the satisfaction of sustained, gainful employment within their communities.
Description
CAREERS was founded 37 years ago by a group of parents to assist their adult children with disabilities in finding jobs in the community. Over the years, our programs have expanded to include high school and college students, adults who are not yet ready for the workplace and senior citizens, with and without disabilities.
Community support funds our core Workforce Readiness, Placement and Training program that helps clients find, and keep, jobs they love. It also funds our High School Transition Program which helps students prepare for the workforce and On Course for College which provides guidance and support to students who want to continue their education. Your donations help support our Ambition In Motion program -- called AIM -- that prepares clients not quite ready for work for independent living with a mix of volunteering, recreation and community activities; and our Jobs for Seniors program helps seniors age 55 and older, with and without disabilities, find suitable jobs. Our personalized programs are always offered at no cost to clients, families or employers.
