Description
Our Story:
March of 2018, a group of Tucson families began meeting at Life Care Center of Tucson for a bi monthly intergenerational playgroup.
In March of 2020 we had to stop attending our playgroups due to COVID-19.
We decided we would hold our playgroups virtually, once a week, on Wednesday mornings. In addition to virtual playgroups, families also started sending monthly artwork to the residents as a way to send our love to our grandfriends. It was a grand idea! Currently, we had several families and three homeschool groups participating in our art campaign along with our weekly online playgroups.
We became a 501c3 March of 2023! During this last year we, have grown our YAHT program to:
- HeART playgroups at four senior living locations where we meet consistently multiple times during the month.
- We have a, 'Grandparent and Me' HeART Exploration at The Drawing Studio two times a month.
- We are the first in Tucson to start a Grandparents Day Festival in September during the national holiday. This year we are planning our 2nd annual.
- We have partnered with PATH ACADEMY with a program where we pair up a school with a senior living facility.
