Mission Statement
Changing Footprints realizes the great need for shoes in our own community, in the U.S. and around the world. We collect previously worn and new shoes for distribution to homeless, disaster-stricken and underprivileged people in need at home and abroad, regardless of race, religion, gender or ethnicity.
Description
Changing Footprints organized in 2005. We have 5 sites in Indiana. We are an all volunteer non-profit. Last year we distributed over 135,000 pairs of shoes worldwide and have currently distributed over 750,000 pairs. At South Indy, we collect shoes through shoe drives with hospitals, churches, schools and businesses and also through permanent drop off sites. We then sort them, grade them, deep clean and wash them and then take them back out to those in need. We concentrate on mainly central Indiana and specifically the Indianapolis area. We also go to 10 to 12 large community giveaways during the warm months and give away shoes as well as socks that we get from Bomba's and For Bare Feet. We also attend large pre-race expos collecting shoes and telling people about who we are and what we do. We also partner with another non-profit, H.O.O.P., Helping Our Own People during the giveaways to help meet more of the needs of those needing help. Our out of state distributions include help in Kentucky, Tennessee, Haiti, Guatemala and Liberia just to mention a few. We can use help in several areas, whatever fits your needs. The opportunities include but are not limited to collecting, sorting cleaning and distributing shoes. Also helping with distributions and leading sorting with outside groups and volunteers.
