Mission Statement
WECO connects donors and volunteers to meaningful grassroots initiatives for gender equity through education and business development projects that provide local partners with resources to achieve greater impact for women and girls in their communities.
Description
Through a process of research and relationship-building, we partner with global grassroots organizations to enhance educational and economic opportunities for women and girls (currently in Costa Rica, India, Peru, Kenya, and Cambodia). We find and vet local partners with existing gender equity programs and then collaborate with them on co-creating a needs-based gender equity project to amplify their deeply embedded programs that directly benefit their communities.
We include an element of responsible travel and offer volunteer trips/donor site visits so supporters can take an active, meaningful part in project work. We partner with companies or individual groups of philanthropists to join us in fundraising for and participating in projects that benefit from on-site volunteer labor. In addition to project work, we incorporate a week or so (depending on the region) of adventure travel. We typically bring groups a menu of travel options and create a custom itinerary based on group preference and budget.
Since we are also a small team, we are currently looking for folks interested in providing volunteer support for grants research, CSR + strategy consulting, and marketing + fundraising assistance.
