Mission Statement
Our mission is to dismantle obstacles, transcend boundaries, and inspire women of color to bring their fempreneurial visions to life by providing educational resources, tools, and networking opportunities.
Description
Founded in 2023 by two women of color who are both mothers and entrepreneurs, Fempreneur Poder Hub aims to address the unique challenges faced by women of color in business. Despite the National Women’s Business Council's 2022 report highlighting the significant presence of female entrepreneurs, women of color remain underrepresented.
Notably Latine and Black women, despite being among the most educated groups and striving for economic success, face systemic obstacles including significant student debt and a persistent wage gap. In Chicago, for example, women earned only 81% of what men did in 2019. These economic barriers, compounded by racial and gender bias, often prevent them from securing high-paying positions, perpetuating a cycle of debt and limited earnings.
In response, Fempreneur Poder Hub offers a beacon of hope and support, providing professional networks and educational resources to help women of color navigate the entrepreneurial landscape in Chicago. The hub's mission is to empower these entrepreneurs to succeed and lead in the business world, countering systemic barriers with community and support.
