Mission Statement
The Youth Eagles Aviation and Aerospace Education is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that inspires youth to pursue a career in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics using programs that require hands-on to encourage youth to achieve their goals.
Description
Youth Eagles Aviation & Aerospace Education, established in 2011 at Stockton Metropolitan Airport by Mike Perez and David Varela, focuses on STEM education, with a special emphasis on aviation. Affiliated with EAA Chapter 1432 (Experimental Aircraft Association), our program engages youth interested in pursuing a private pilot's license or learning about aviation. Through our partnership with EAA, we've awarded scholarships to four students for their pilot's licenses.
In addition to aviation, we offer various STEM programs for youth:
- High Altitude Ballooning: Participants learn launch protocols, atmospheric science, and data analysis.
- Model Rocket Competition (Team America Rocket Challenge - TARC): Teams design, construct, and test rockets to meet specific milestones for local and national competitions. Winners may advance to international competitions in Europe.
- SeaPerch: Participants build submersible ROVs (remote operating vehicles) to compete locally and internationally at the University of Maryland.
- Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Competition: Our Delta College team tackles challenges in designing, constructing, and testing autonomous UAVs to perform various tasks.
Moreover, we offer insights into the aviation and aerospace industry through field trips to air museums, airport tours, and visits to aviation/aerospace companies in the Central Valley.
