YWOU’s mission is to improve the livelihood of those living in the poorest communities through holistic training programs, quality educational opportunities through scholarships and bursaries, life skills and vocational training, HIV/AIDS programs, economic empowerment and family support, sports and recreation programs, and fundamental human rights and advocacy. YWOU collaborates and networks with local communities, governments, families, and other stakeholders in rural areas to provide holistic community services to communities in need. YWOU initiatives address issues such as education, agriculture, agro-forestry, climate change, food security, clean water, sanitation and hygiene, poverty, and empowerment of women
Description
Youth and Women for Opportunities Uganda (YWOU) is a community-based, non-profit organization in the Teso region of Eastern Uganda. The organization was created to provide support for the weakest social groups in the region in an effort to release them from economic and social poverty and enable them to live responsible and fulfilled lives while having good health and educational opportunities.
The ultimately YWOU works to objectively uplift and strengthening its capacity to offer services to children, youth and people living with HIV/AIDS, orphans and vulnerable children families and communities to effectively respond to the psychosocial, economic, health and education needs of the orphans and vulnerable children. Achieved through improving the socio-economic security of people living with HIV/AIDS, OVC and their families, provision of counselling and Testing, care and treatment, TB management, HIV/AIDs education, prevention, sensitization services, provide education support and practical skills training to OVCs, improving the life of people living with HIV/AIDS and Orphan and vulnerable Children with food security and nutrition, Women and Children’s Reproductive Rights and at the same time building the capacity of communities in child protection and care, Providing education and development for needy children and orphans, providing welfare and opportunities for the needy children and orphans, linking sponsors to children, building and managing child centers and schools for our children
