Kakuma refugee camp is grappling with significant challenges related to deforestation and waste management. This initiative aims to educate local communities about the crucial importance of environmental conservation and proper waste disposal. As a volunteer, you will play a pivotal role in conserving biodiversity and ecosystems in Kakuma refugee camp. Our environmental conservation program includes a tree-planting project within the camp and its surrounding communities. This initiative directly combats deforestation by planting rapid-growing trees at both household and community levels, ensuring a sustainable supply of firewood and timber for refugees. Participants in our environmental conservation volunteer program have the opportunity to engage in afforestation activities, community education, and contribute to making the world a better place. This experience will not only enhance your CV but also provide valuable work experience in an African country, specifically in Kakuma refugee camp, where you can apply your creative skills. We will provide you with a recommendation and certificate. One of the noteworthy initiatives within this camp is the Women Empowerment Volunteer Program. This program is designed to uplift disadvantaged women through education, economic empowerment, and entrepreneurship. Volunteers work closely with these women to foster economic self-sufficiency and support the development of their business ventures. As a participant you will contribute to enhancing the quality of life for refugee women in Kakuma camp by promoting economic stability. Your role may involve conducting workshops in business skills, IT,administration, financial literacy, people management, and customer care. You will engage in a variety of meaningful activities aimed at assisting the women and girls within the community. Your tasks may include running specialised sessions that can be highly rewarding, fostering trust, sharing your experiences with women and girls, and listening to their stories. You can assist in developing business plans, crafting grant proposals, and aiding in the design and successful marketing of handmade products. Specific experience working with women’s groups is not required, but a willingness to assist where needed, a genuine interest in supporting women in need, and sensitivity are valuable attributes. You may also combine this refugee women volunteer project with other activities, such as visiting local schools and refugee organisations, engaging in public speaking with youth and children, and participating in mentorship sessions within the local communities. The Pre-school, established at the outset of 2018, was born from the necessity to address the challenges faced by vulnerable families with young children. These families often had to leave their children unattended while they attended to daily duties, which posed significant risks in the precarious environment of Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya. In response,we have created a multifaceted "community hub" that serves a range of critical functions: Providing early childhood education aligned with the Kenyan National curriculum. Offering essential daily meals for young children. Furnishing a secure and nurturing environment for the little ones. Creating employment opportunities for staff. Teaching vital life skills (e.g., COVID safety and gardening) that can be applied at home and shared with families. The primary objectives of this program are: Providing high-quality education for young children aged 3 to 6. Ensuring the safety and well-being of young children and protecting them from domestic incidents. Allowing parents to manage their daily activities without the added stress of childcare. Encouraging children to develop into independent thinkers and inquirers. Enhancing the literacy of refugees at Kakuma Refugee Camp. Preparing children to become future role models and leaders. Participating in our teaching volunteer project in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya, provides you with the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others and contribute to making the world a better place. Additionally, it enhances your CV, offers valuable work experience in an African context (Kakuma refugee camp), and allows you to apply your creative skills. ahirih Preschool opened at the beginning of 2018 in response to the challenges of vulnerable families with young children who out of necessity were often left unattended at home while their parents performed daily duties. Kakuma refugee camp in is a dangerous environment for all people, but in particular for young unsupervised children.In response to this, Faulu Productions have created a "community hub" that performs many functions. -Early childhood education that follows the Kenyan National curriculum -Providing a very important daily meal for young children -Provide a safe and nurturing environment for young children -Provide ongoing paid employment for staff -Teach important life skills (eg. Covid safety, gardening) that can be taken home and shared with family. Objective of this program is ; -Providing young children within the age range of 3 to 6 years with the chance of quality education. Keeping young children safe and protecting them from domestic incidents -Enabling the parents of these children to easily run their daily activities without any the stress of also looking after children. -Encouraging these young children to become independent thinkers and inquirers. -Increasing the literacy of refugees at Kakuma Refugee Camp. -Preparing children to become future role models and leaders.
