Mission Statement
Saturday Stream Snapshot is a citizen science water quality monitoring program committed to preserving and protecting the Lower Little Miami River, the only National Scenic River that flows through a major urban area. After a 2-year hiatus, we now have grant funding from the Ohio Environmental Education Fund and are re-starting sampling in March, 2024! Volunteers can help by collecting stream samples, processing them in our Level-2 Chemistry lab in Loveland, OH, or help us with our education program to teach area residents how they can help minimize nutrient pollution in the River.
Description
Saturday Stream Snapshot serves as the "eyes and ears' of the Lower Little Miami River in Hamilton and Clermont Counties in Ohio. We share river water quality data with municipalities and entities to affect change when issues are found. Our sponsoring organization is the Izaak Walton League's Cincinnati branch, located on the banks of the Lower Little Miami River in Loveland, OH. Izaak Walton League (also known as Ike's) is a national environmental organization and our lodge provides camping, kayaking, canoeing, fun events and environmental advocacy for our 100+ members. The SSS program is our biggest initiative of 2024 and we need volunteers support to make it work.
