Exciting Volunteer Opportunity in the Emergency Department! Join our dynamic team of volunteers in the Emergency Department (ED) and gain invaluable experience in the healthcare field! This is your chance to be at the heart of the action, helping us deliver exceptional care and exceed our patients' expectations. Here's what you'll be doing: Provide Welcoming Greetings: Actively interact with patients, family members, and visitors in a friendly, caring manner. Assist Patients: Help functionally independent patients to and from their cars using a wheelchair. Round on Patients: Ensure patients understand how to use the TV, phone, and have their call light within reach. Offer Comfort Measures: Provide warmed blankets, cold washcloths for the head, pillows, ice packs, etc. (always check with the nurse before giving warmed blankets or anything to drink). Inform ED Staff: Notify staff if a patient or family member has a concern or request. Remember, patient confidentiality is foremost. Hand Hygiene: Wash or sanitize hands before and after wearing gloves or if hands have touched a contaminated surface or are visibly soiled. Prepare Treatment Rooms: Get treatment rooms ready for the next patient after discharge. Remove Soiled Linen: Place soiled linen bags in the soiled linen closet. Stock Treatment Rooms: Ensure treatment rooms are stocked with gowns, sheets, pillowcases, urinals, emesis basins, gloves, towels, washcloths, etc. Assist with Orthopedic Procedures: Help hold patients for basic orthopedic procedures (if comfortable doing so). Return Kitchen Trays: Bring kitchen trays to the soiled utility room. Assist with Valuables Inventory: Help staff as a witness with valuables inventory when needed.
