The Department Coordinator will play a vital role in supporting The Medica Zone’s Content Creation Department. Working closely with the department Director and interns, the Coordinator will ensure smooth operation, oversee logistics, and serve as a liaison between leadership and the content creation team. This role includes a pathway to becoming Interim Director in the event of the Director's absence, providing key leadership in content strategy and production for the organization’s YouTube, podcast, and TikTok platforms. Responsibilities: 1. Leadership and Communication Attend monthly meetings with the department Director and all-organization leadership meetings. Act as a liaison between the department Director and interns, ensuring smooth communication and workflow. Assist the Director in decision-making and problem-solving within the department. Interpret the organization’s work and values to the community, serving as a spokesperson for interns and representing the organization publicly. 2. Program and Logistical Procedures Review and abide by all program and logistical procedures to ensure smooth operation within the department. Oversee the planning and execution of content creation, including coordinating filming, scheduling interviews, and managing production logistics. 3. Interim Director Responsibilities In the event of the Director’s absence, immediately assume the role of Interim Director. Take on all responsibilities of the Director, including leading the department’s content strategy, managing the production team, and ensuring content quality. Work under the supervision of the Assistant Executive Director during the interim period. Qualifications: Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage a team and handle department logistics. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in content creation and media production. Familiarity with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) and social media platforms (YouTube, podcast platforms, TikTok). Key Responsibilities: Content Creation: Develop creative and compelling content ideas for TikTok videos, YouTube videos, and podcast episodes that align with our organization's goals and values. Scriptwriting: Write engaging scripts and outlines for videos and podcast episodes, ensuring clarity, relevance, and audience appeal. Production: Assist with the production process, including filming, editing, and post-production tasks for TikTok videos and YouTube videos. Learn and utilize editing software and tools to enhance the quality of content. Podcast Production: Contribute to the planning, recording, and editing of podcast episodes. Assist with scheduling guests, conducting interviews, and ensuring high audio quality. Coordinate workshops, seminars, and other events aimed at developing skills and knowledge in healthcare and related fields. Collaborate with members and partners to ensure the events are impactful and meet the needs of the students. 3. Academic Projects and Opportunities Create and manage academic projects and initiatives that promote student growth and professional development. Develop resources, such as study guides, professional development plans, and mentorship programs, to support students. Foster an environment of collaboration and learning within the organization, encouraging student engagement with available academic services. 4. Explore innovative ways in which The Medica Zone can expand its support for students' academic and career development. Provide recommendations to leadership on academic initiatives that will enhance the organization’s support services. At The Medica Zone, we not only offer our resources in English, but in several languages. We are looking into rebuilding our languages department, starting with Spanish. We ask for someone who is fluent and is able to read/write in their language. Upon application and interview, we require that you complete a test to prove your proficiency. Director of Translations would coordinate with Research to translate slides and learning quizzes, events, and come up with their own events as well!
