Virtual Opportunity
Each year, middle and high school students join Project Invent and embark on a journey to invent products for social good- designing with real community members in mind instead of for hypotheticals. As a Community Partner, you would be paired with teams and share your story, hobbies, challenges you face, or any other experience or expertise that you want to share! This will help students start to think about an invention that they can create that will connect with one of those aspects of your life. An Awesome Community Partner Is... Excited to collaborate with youth Willing to connect students to additional resources/experts in their network Able to give honest feedback kindly Open about the challenges they face in their personal or professional life Open to curating experiences for students, in addition to providing insights and stories (e.g. an EMS professional inviting students to join them for a ride in an ambulance) Examples of Community Partners and projects that have been created by teams have included: Firefighters who inspired students to create a wearable device that alerts individuals with hearing impairments to emergency situations. An artist and seamstress with a vision impairment who inspired teams to create a portable camera and monitor that will magnify images to reduce eye strain and enhance the sewing experience. A representative from a school for the visually impaired who inspired Braille blocks that offer children with visual impairments a chance to enjoy learning Braille through added audio features. A teacher with an interest in the environment who inspired students to create a camera rail system to photograph and monitor pollinators in local gardens If you're interested in becoming a Community Partner or learning more, please sign up here: https://www.tfaforms.com/5123097
