The Human Rights Internship Program in the West Bank, Palestine is a great opportunity for those interested in gaining experience in fields such as humanitarian aid, diplomacy and international law whilst building their Arabic language skills and intercultural competency. Interns on this program will be working to raise awareness of the situation in the West Bank, while also giving voice to local communities. The interns will be at the forefront of relationship-building between international visitors and locals. Engage in Palestine offers this flexible program year-round (Summer, Winter, Fall, and Spring), for periods of between 1 and 13 weeks, with the choice of start and end dates entirely up to the participant. In order to better inform participants of the complexities surrounding human rights in Palestine, Engage in Palestine will organise visits to human rights organizations, Palestinian community centers, local activists, Palestinian refugee camps and Palestinian families. The Human Rights Internship program is open to students of all levels, native and non-native English speakers, graduate and undergraduate students of Middle Eastern studies, Arabic studies, political sciences, scholars conducting case studies on Palestine and Israel, human aid worker, professionals, researchers, retirees and anyone who would like to help and contribute meaningfully to the Palestinian community in the West Bank. Palestinian Laws & Legal Practices Internship: This program is ideal for students of law, the social sciences and human rights, and for anyone who is interested in the Palestinian legal system as it operates in the West Bank. Interns can enroll for a period of from 1 to 13 weeks, year-round ( spring, summer, fall, and winter). The Palestinian Laws program aims to provide a full understanding of legislation applying to the West Bank and Gaza. During the legal internship program, interns will visit local Palestinian lawyers, law faculties, courts, human rights organizations, legal religious institutions and legal clinics. They will witness the enactment of laws, the decision-making process, court rulings, legal negotiations and mediations in a variety of social settings. Engage in Palestine’s internship in Palestinian Law and Legal Practices is designed to create dialogue between participants and Palestinian legal experts, as well as introducing them to one of the world’s most complex legal systems. The internship program will give them an opportunity to learn about Palestinian and Humanitarian law, as well as offering them an insight into some of the issues concerning both Palestine and Israel. The legal internship in Palestine covers the following laws: The Israeli Military Law The Jordanian Law The Religious Law Customary Law British Law Ottoman Law Egyptian Law Palestinian Traditional Law (Arabic Rights) Interns participating in this legal internship program will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Palestinian culture, daily life, politics, human rights, and legal spaces in the city of Hebron, Palestine. Arabic lessons, totaling three hours per week, will be provided to participants, and they will be given the chance to visit various sites. Females may also have the option to stay with a Palestinian host family, and all participants will receive full support during their time in Hebron. Looking for a Summer Legal Internship? Volunteer with Palestinian Children: This program is an excellent opportunity for graduate and undergraduate students, professionals, retirees, social workers and teachers interested in working with children in a volunteer capacity. It is also ideal for anyone, whether native or non-native English speaker, interested in interning with Palestinian children. In addition, those interested in childhood education will benefit from volunteering with children in Palestine. Volunteers will be provided with a full immersion into Palestinian culture, daily life, politics, the human rights situation and the educational system. Volunteers in Palestine can join our program for the period of time that best suits them, anything from (1-13 weeks) in duration. They can come at any time of the year as we are flexible when it comes to starting and ending dates. People of all backgrounds and nationalities are welcome to apply, the only condition being that you have to be at least 18 years old to join. As a volunteer in Hebron, West Bank, you will have the chance to meet many Palestinian children who yearn to interact with international visitors. The Palestinian children are the future, and helping them grow will have a direct impact on their own wellbeing as well as on that of their country. You will make a difference in their lives as well as yours. Educational classes and workshops will take place in either the Excellence Center/Engage in Palestine, local Palestinian community and day care centers, schools, children’s organizations, special needs schools or local refugee camps in Hebron. Upon their arrival in Hebron, volunteers will get the chance to craft and develop their workshops tailored to Palestinian children. These workshops and classes will constitute the primary portion of the volunteers’ workload during their time volunteering in Palestine.

The Internship in the West Bank, Palestine Program offers international participants the chance to immerse themselves in Palestinian culture and daily life, as well as learn about human rights, Palestinian refugee situations, and politics in Hebron, West Bank. The internship opportunity involves participating in a highly respected community development initiative run by Engage in Palestine. To facilitate a deep cultural experience, the Center organises visits to various institutions, including both Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Palestinian governmental organisations, factories, and Palestinian refugee camps in Hebron. This firsthand exposure provides an exciting opportunity for interns to gain insight into daily life in Palestine.
