Volunteer would help in various departments throughout the hospital and at the sites just off campus. Tasks could include answering phones, filing, photocopying, paperwork, stamping, labeling, confirming appointments, coordinating visitor/family check-in, assist staff in locating the patient's family/friends, and serve as a resource to convey waiting time updates to family.

Job duties are as follows: Greeting people as they enter the hospital and asking how they may be of help. Help visitors find their locations. Provide wheelchairs to those handicapped. Have some knowledge of the computer and get the required training before use. Volunteers must call the administrative offices before sending a visitor to their office or to the floors. Volunteer must locate the last and first name of the patient before issuing a visitor pass. Volunteer must ask for driver’s license to scan and take picture if necessary. Guide visitors to their ultimate destinations.

JOB SUMMARY This position covers visiting patient rooms throughout the hospital and delivering patient items (flowers, meals, etc.) Talking to patients and noting their issues and concerns. The Ambassador may also assist with patient/visitor greeting at unit nursing stations and facility entrances. SKILLS REQUIRED Good people skills. Desire to assist patients with their problems and concerns and take the initiative to follow through to resolve the problems. EDUCATION The volunteer is required to be literate. A high school diploma (or equivalent) is preferred but not required. The volunteer must be able to show compassion and understanding of patient needs, wants and concerns and follow through to resolving the problems. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Sit, stand, walk, push/pull, bend and reach as needed. Needs to be able to hear and understand problems. JOB DUTIES Job duties are dependent on the specific concerns, problems and issues that the patient/visitor discusses with the Ambassador. It is the duty of the Ambassador to bring the patient problems and concerns to the attention of the head nurse, area supervisor and/or Floor Director and resolve/discuss the patient issues. Ambassador is responsible for providing friendly greetings and may assist with patient/visitor navigation throughout the facility. Ambassador visits patients and brings water, blankets or friendly conversation. May wheelchair transport patients to discharge locations and awaiting vehicles.

Volunteers could have many duties: Transport patients from one location in the hospital to another; transport files, equipment etc. around hospital from one department to another; deliver flowers to patient rooms; guide relatives to waiting rooms; help laboratory to deliver charts, specimens etc.

The way finder/ greeter is responsible for providing friendly greetings to visitors of the hospital and navigating them throughout the facility. They are the first point of contact in our 2 lobbies on site. Maps will be given and volunteer will be shown around the hospital. There are once again two shifts, 8:00am - noon and noon - 4pm.
