Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
StandUp For Kids Chicago is committed to ending the cycle of youth homelessness. We do this one youth at a time. We carry out our mission through our volunteers who go to the streets in order to find, stabilize and otherwise help homeless and street kids improve their lives.
In 2009, a handful of volunteers were moved to start the Chicago chapter of StandUp For Kids by making sandwiches in a Lakeview church basement. Along with providing street outreach services, we have a safe drop-in center (2012) for our Chicago’s homeless youth to relax and socialize, as well as a hot meal and access to our closet to obtain much needed clothing and personal items. Further, the youth have access to our volunteers who are there to help to the best of their ability with homework, and/or interview training, mentoring, counseling and emotional support.
We seek volunteers for our drop in center evenings (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday) as well as volunteer groups who would like to supply meals to our youth.
