Mission Statement
The mission of the Liberia Farmer to Farmer Ministry is to assist the people of Harrisburg, Liberia, to enhance their sustainable farming productivity by using technology and mechanization and to provide education, training, and basic skills to the community.
Description
The Mission of the Farmer to Farmer Vocational Agriculture Educational Development Program is to provide quality education to young people and to empower them with technical and practical agricultural skills that will enable them to adequately utilize equipment and tools given to them to maximize their production and establish a functional marketing system. To achieve its mission, Farmer to Farmer has set up an elementary, and junior high school with a senior high school building under construction. It has also set up the Farmer to Farmer Vocational Agriculture Educational Development Program.
The Ministry will partner with the Government of Liberia Ministry of Agriculture, the University of Liberia, the Booker Washington Institute, USAID, Water.org, European Union, World Vision, Good Samaritan Purse, Liberia Future Farmer Association, the Liberia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, and the St. John United Methodist Church of Harrisburg. These institutions will work together to help empower farm families through sustainable agriculture education and training to become self-sufficient in food security. They will model Future Farmers of America with emphasis on the introduction of Agriculture as a Business, which is a good way to earn a living. To achieve this objective, the community leaders of Harrisburg have donated 37.5 acres of land to establish an experimental farm and to build an elementary, junior, and senior high school for the students of Harrisburg and its environment.
