Our No One Dies Alone volunteers are specially trained to wait with our patients as their time of transition draws close. We support our patients as they are in their final 24-48 hours, especially if they live alone and are without family or friends. Our team is as committed to medical and safety guidelines as it is prepared to advocate on behalf of our loved ones during challenging times. We sit bedside and hold the hand of our patients, we read poems to them, we listen to their favorite music as they lay with shallow breath. We master the art of being present beside our patients and are always accessible to the family in the most challenging of circumstances. We are fiercely compassionate and vigilantly support each patient, so that no one dies alone. Veteran volunteers have the unique ability to relate and connect with other Veterans, which is why they are vital to ensuring our veteran patients get the extra attention they deserve. Veteran volunteers provide companionship (conversation/sharing stories, playing games, etc.), caregiver relief (to give direct caregivers a break), compassionate listening, and participate in Veteran pinning ceremonies. Accentcare Hospice & Palliative Care needs volunteers for our Longview office. Administrative/ Office (Indirect Care) volunteers are integral members of the hospice team. These volunteers provide clerical assistance and are vital in healping not only office and field staff but also in supporting patients and their famlies. Our Longview office hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
