Mission Statement
Spark Filmmakers Collaborative (SFC) envisions an open and loving society that recognizes and values the similarities and differences between us. Our stories help us see ourselves in each other, dismantling stereotypes perpetuated by lack of representation. SFC spreads cultural awareness while inspiring and supporting voices of all abilities, ages, ethnicities, genders, sexual identities, and income levels to self-represent through film/video by: Introducing marginalized community members to storytellers and storytelling that reflects their voices and experiences Co-developing programs that honor the voices, values, and traditions of marginalized creators while compensating them for their insight and experience Building cultural awareness with free and accessible short film screenings that amplify diverse perspectives often overlooked in mainstream media Collaborating with other organizations and individuals to create programs that combine resources and expand outreach

OUR PROGRAMS
Haudenosaunee Micro-Short Film Program - annual Indigenous co-developed, co-managed, participant-compensated short film program.Spark Micro-Short Film Festival (SMSFF) est. 2019 - Free short film-centered event series presenting impactful local and international films, each 5 minutes long or less. Films are selected based on impact over production quality. An ethnically diverse jury selects award winners during free public events.
Western New York Filmmaker Spotlight est. 2023 - Free monthly events providing filmmakers presentation and feedback opportunities. Filmmakers are selected by referral.
The MicroMania(r) streaming channel - est. 2020 2.3M views - An opt-in opportunity for SMSFF officially selected films to reach international audiences online.
Visiting Filmmaker Program - est. 2021 - Filmmaker-led conversations and short film programs supplementing media arts curricula. Filmmaker presenters are compensated, and screening fees are paid.
Curated Film Programs - est. 20213 - filmmaker-compensated short-film programs that supplement meetings, conferences, and retreat
