Role Summary: The Supervising Volunteer Lead Grant Writing Supervisor & Subject Matter Expert at Destiel is responsible for overseeing a team of volunteer grant writers, ensuring the timely and effective completion of grant proposals. This role involves providing supervision, guidance, and expertise in grant writing best practices and LGBTQ+ advocacy. The successful candidate will coordinate the grant writing process, keep grant writers on task, and ensure alignment with Destiel's mission and funding priorities. Responsibilities: Grant Writing Supervision Provide direct supervision and guidance to a team of volunteer grant writers, ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality standards. Assign grant writing tasks, prioritize workload, and monitor progress to ensure timely completion of grant proposals. Conduct regular check-ins and provide feedback to grant writers to keep them on task and address any challenges or issues. Subject Matter Expertise Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) on grant writing best practices and LGBTQ+ advocacy within the organization. Provide training and resources to volunteer grant writers, offering expertise and support in grant writing techniques and strategies. Stay updated on current trends, best practices, and funding opportunities related to LGBTQ+ advocacy and nonprofit grant writing. Team Coordination Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment among grant writers, encouraging communication, idea sharing, and collaboration. Organize and facilitate team meetings to discuss project progress, share updates, and address any issues or concerns. Ensure clear communication of grant writing priorities, deadlines, and expectations to the team. Quality Assurance Review grant proposals for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Destiel's grant writing guidelines and requirements. Provide feedback and guidance to grant writers to enhance the quality and effectiveness of grant proposals. Ensure that all grant submissions are of the highest quality and reflect Destiel's mission and objectives. Relationship Management Cultivate and maintain relationships with grant-making organizations, donors, and community partners. Represent Destiel in meetings, conferences, and networking events to explore funding opportunities and build strategic partnerships. Reporting and Compliance Ensure compliance with grant guidelines and reporting requirements for all submitted proposals. Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary data and information for grant reporting purposes. Qualifications Significant experience in grant writing, preferably in the nonprofit sector. Expertise in grant writing best practices and knowledge of LGBTQ+ advocacy issues. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear guidance and feedback to grant writers. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a passion for advancing LGBTQ+ rights and social justice. Ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment and foster a supportive team culture. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and grant management software is preferred. Prepare compelling grant proposals, including budgets and supporting documentation. Tailor proposals to meet the specific requirements of each funding opportunity. * Grant Submission: Manage the grant application process, ensuring timely submission of high-quality proposals. Maintain accurate records of submitted proposals and track their status. * Compliance and Reporting: Monitor and ensure compliance with grant guidelines and reporting requirements. Work closely with internal teams to gather necessary information for reporting purposes. * Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain relationships with grant-making organizations. Attend relevant events and networking opportunities to enhance visibility and connections. Qualifications: Proven experience in grant writing, preferably in the nonprofit sector. Strong research and analytical skills to identify suitable funding opportunities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines.
