If you are searching for a way to make a difference in the lives of others, you belong here. Hospice volunteers are a valuable part of our care team. Based on your interests and preferences, you will receive specific volunteer training to help improve the quality of life of others. Volunteers provide companionship at a patient's bedside, running errands, help with administrative duties, create gifts for patients and their families. - Hold a hand, share a story - Send a card - Listen, read, sing or play an instrument - Make gifts for patients - Run errands or perform light housekeeping - Share flowers, bake or garden - Make phone calls - Attend community events Volunteer Training We support our volunteers and provide specific training: - The hospice care team and the volunteer role - The hospice philosophy and end-of-life care - Grief and bereavement education - Emotional and spiritual support in hospice care - Communication and stress management - Patient privacy and other regulations Volunteering with hospice takes no advanced medical training or great commitment. Our hospice needs veteran volunteers who are willing to share some of their time and talents to help patients and their families who are dealing with end-of-life issues. Trained hospice volunteers, who are also veterans, will have the unique opportunity to support other veterans who have a life-limiting illness. They will work directly with patients and families to provide such services as: Companionship Respite for caregivers Emotional support Participate in pinning ceremonies Socialization Educate our teams on military culture Our hospice program will provide education on the hospice philosophy and our care model. Our training will also help veterans understand their role as hospice volunteers. Volunteering with hospice takes no advanced medical training or great commitment. All hospice volunteers are given assignments that best suit their time, skills and interests. We love our volunteer and embrace why they are investing in our Hospice patients. You belong here.
