Mission Statement
To provide access to the arts as a vehicle to EMPOWER all individuals, regardless of disabilities, background or age. To INSPIRE the love of humanity in these individuals. To create a CHANGE in the environment, building a community based in compassion and understanding through the arts.
Description
The Heart In Art is an all-inclusive, creative environment open to all ages, abilities & physical or developmental challenges. Our offerings range from social events intended to foster community to classes designed to empower and educate participants to community wide festivals bringing everyone regardless of ability together.Through fundraising, grants & the generosity of our sponsors, we strive to remove or minimize financial barriers to event participation for individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. Supporting The Heart in Art makes a difference in the lives of individuals who need your help.
The Heart in Art works to make the arts accessible to all regardless of age, ability & physical or intellectual challenges by:
- Offering events, like our dances & Gingerbread House Building to bring together isolated individuals & promote community
- Creating community wide art making opportunities, like Pumpkin Romp & Chalk It Up Arts Festival
- Teaching classes that offer everyday tools & support to individuals with disabilities, like our art, yoga, & cooking classes
- Providing art education for our community, like our summer program
Once an individual becomes a part of our community, The Heart in Art remains connected; some of our participants have been with us from the beginning! This allows us to encourage connections between community members to prevent isolation & foster a sense of belonging.
