Mission Statement

Amandela means "power" in a South African language. The Amandela Project is a multicultural community collaborative initiative with the "power" to reduce teen-pregnancy in the Southside Community of Richmond. We are dedicated to the empowerment of all Richmond youth.

Description

As a program we wish to improve the quality of life for young people.We choose to provide positive alternatives for our youth. We also choose to model appropriate male and female relationships, and create a supportive environment for teens to discuss issues regarding sexuality.We acheive our goals through Service and Education: Youth Development; Parent Education; Adult and Youth Service, and Outreach and Advocacy; Access to Contraceptive and Family Planning; Media and Public Awareness; and Community Education and Mobilization.Amandela's programs are as follows; Youth Programs:Contraceptive Outreach Peer Educators (COPE)Teen Outreach Program (TOP)Adult ProgramsParent FacilitatorsAmandela Mentors
