Program: Sisters Helping Sisters - Walk by Faith Breast Cancer Support Services Location: Various service areas (In-person & Remote Opportunities) Time Commitment: Flexible (Minimum of 4 hours/month recommended) Reports To: Volunteer Coordinator or Patient Services Manager Position Overview: Sisters Helping Sisters Patient Care Volunteers provide emotional support, non-medical assistance, and compassionate companionship to breast cancer patients during their treatment journey. Volunteers serve as a caring presence, offering encouragement, listening ears, and practical help that makes a difference. This role is ideal for individuals who are empathetic, dependable, and passionate about uplifting women and families affected by breast cancer-especially those in underserved communities. Responsibilities: Provide friendly phone check-ins, encouragement, and conversation to patients and survivors Offer in-person companionship during medical appointments or treatment days (where applicable) Assist with delivery of comfort totes, meal support, or small care packages Support transportation coordination or serve as a treatment escort (if eligible) Help identify unmet needs and report them to staff for follow-up Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold program values of dignity, grace, and compassion Represent Walk by Faith with warmth, professionalism, and cultural humility Qualifications: A heart for service and the ability to listen with empathy Reliable, punctual, and able to follow volunteer protocols Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Must be 21 years or older Background check required Bilingual volunteers and breast cancer survivors are highly encouraged to apply Training & Support Provided: All volunteers will receive orientation and ongoing training, including: Cultural sensitivity and trauma-informed care Confidentiality and boundaries Patient communication best practices Safety protocols for visits Impact: By volunteering with Sisters Helping Sisters, you are offering more than your time-you’re offering hope, healing, and humanity to women facing one of the hardest seasons of their lives. Coordinate and schedule rides through Uber Health for breast cancer patients and surivivors to ensure they arrive at their mammogram appointments on time. 2. Communicate with patients to gather necessary information for scheduling rides, such as pick-up location, appointment time, and any additional instructions. 3. Work closely with healthcare providers and facilities to coordinate transportation logistics and ensure seamless communication. 4. Monitor ride statuses and address any issues or delays that may arise during the transportation process. 5. Maintain accurate records of ride schedules, patient information, and transportation expenses. 6. Collaborate with Uber Health representatives to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of ride services for breast cancer patients. 7.
