Elara Caring, one of the nation’s largest providers of home-based care, is looking for compassionate volunteers willing to donate their time to provide exceptional end-of-life care to local hospice patients and their families. Elara Caring Hospice is looking for Pet Therapy volunteers (handlers with dogs only). A visit from a therapy dog can be so beneficial. Terminally ill patients enjoy the extra attention and unconditional love they feel from a four-legged companion. In order to volunteer and visit patients, you must have you own dog who is already certified. Share your furry 4-legged friend! Chat about all things PETS And providing emotional support for a patient as they navigate hospice care with you and your PET! Hours are very flexible! You can choose from weekdays, evenings, and weekends. Typically, we ask you to donate an hour of your time once a week. The onboarding process includes a background check, and TB test to maintain compliance with the TEXAS Department of Public Health. We are officially accepting in-person VETERAN volunteers! This includes: Assist in replacing lost medals Assist Veterans in life review and life history Regular visits for socialization Education / Assistance with Veteran benefits Call or visit Veterans on Veterans Day Visit Veterans in their homes, nursing facilities, assisted living facilities or hospitals Veteran volunteers might consider wearing their uniform and take part in a Veteran Pinning ceremony And providing emotional support for a VETERAN as they navigate hospice care Elara Caring Thanks you for your service and all that you have done for our country. Come alongside of us and give your most precious gift! TIME. We need passionate individuals that care deeply about the well-being of each client and WILL perform TUCK N CALLS each week in the OFFICE. No education necessary. Training provided. Compassion is all that is required! There are also volunteer opportunities within the Elara Caring Hospice office, assisting staff with mailing, filing, data entry, and other special projects. Hours are flexible. Typically, 2-4 hours per week in the office. "To the world, you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world." - Dr. Seuss Hours are very flexible! Morning and Afternoon Shift available. Elara Caring, one of the nation’s largest providers of home-based care, is looking for compassionate volunteers willing to donate their time to provide exceptional end-of-life care to local hospice patients and their families. At end-of-life, many hospice patients are uncomfortable having their photos taken. They want their loved ones to remember them in earlier years, not what they looked like in their later life stages. Because many families still want to capture moments with their loved ones at end of life, Elara Caring created the Holding Hands Forever program. This program, which gives families a portrait of their own hands holding the hands of their loved ones, is a beautiful and dignified way to commemorate those last memories in a positive light.
