Mission Statement

The mission of Barrington Giving Day is to provide necessities to children and their families within Community Unit School District 220 (Barrington Illinois Schools) who either qualify as low-income or are experiencing a hardship.

Description

Barrington Giving Day, a 501c3 Non-Profit organization, has been serving the Barrington community for over 80 years and provides support to families in need in the 220 school district for over 80 years. The school district covers 72 square miles including 12 towns and 4 counties. With the pandemic and inflation, low-income families are being hit the hardest right now. They pay a larger proportion of their wages for groceries, gas and essential items for their families. Our mission is to relieve some of that burden by inviting these families to events throughout the year where they can receive much needed items for their children. We hold Spring, Back to School and Winter events. We also launched a Prom event this year. In addition, the school district utilizes Barrington Giving Days services year round to provide urgent support to homeless teens and families in crisis throughout the year. A lot of work goes into each of these events. BGD requires over 1100 volunteers over the year to collect and sort donations, set up the events and serve guests on the actual giving days. We rely on the wonderful people in our community to step up and answer the call to serve. From donations to volunteers, we couldn't fulfill our mission without your support.
