Description

Land Rights Defenders Inc is an Indigenous led non-profit organization incorporated in the state of Ohio with its core main mission to protect the rights of land owners and ensure a safe and equitable environment for indigenous and native groups in Africa and beyond by advocating for fair and just land policies and practice. The organizations have been supporting the indigenous people of Benimasi-Boadi near Kumasi in the Ashanti region of Ghana
who members including women in youth have been subjected by powerful political authorities to constant persecution, torture, character defamation and criminalization as reprisals for exercising their inalienable rights of control and usage of it's ancestral lands contrary to the United Nation Declaration on Rights of Indigenous peoples. Consequently, we are triggered as part of our charity mission to enforce compliance with both international and local laws among others such as the United Nation Declaration on Rights of Indigenous People, Rome Statue 1998, Ghana's Land Act 1036. We seek to achieve our objectives both through legal action when necessary and through public education and advocacy campaigns design to raise awareness about the law's protection against illegal land grab and to hold repressive governments and corporations accountable for violating the indigenous peoples rights.
