Mission Statement

To enrich the educational and ethical development of local youth by fostering critical thinking, social consciousness, and personal development through affordable fine arts instruction, performances and workshops.

Description

Augusta Mini Theatre was established as a 501(c)(3) in 1976 to insure everyone in the Augusta metro has access to affordable arts opportunities, particularly those who lack sufficient resources to take part in the arts and those who are members of communities with low engagement in the arts. Classes and performances are open to anyone throughout our multi-county metro area. Enrolling 125-150 students yearly and subsidized by donations and
grants, AMT's primary programs are afterschool classes (offered Monday-Thursday during the school year) in drama, visual arts, dance and music. In our 48-year history no student has ever been denied enrollment because of their inability to pay.
AMT produces two annual main stage productions for frequently sold-out crowds and attended by 3,600 patrons each year. These plays often focus on relevant social issues and teach important lessons about overcoming negative environments, making positive choices, the importance of
education and dangers of alcohol and drug use.
