Mission Statement

The mission of the Hanson House Foundation is to provide Coachella Valley residents with a very affordable 'Home away from Home" for their families or fiends visiting them during treatment for trauma, cancer or critical care at the local hospitals. Our goal is to provide comfortable and affordable accommodations in a peaceful environment staffed by our wonderful team of compassionate volunteers. Guests have access to two kitchens, donation stocked pantry, large dinning room and laundry facilities to minimize the financial impact on their households.

Description

Hanson House is a "home away from home" for the loved ones of critically ill and injured hospitalized patients at Desert Regional Hospital. We also serve the needs of cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and radiation treatment, parents of newborn babies critically ill in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), military families from the Marine base at Twenty Nine Palms and all families of First Responders. Our services are provided at low cost as we try not to turn away anyone because of an inability to pay.

The Hanson House is a Spanish mission style architecture with meditative grounds and a welcoming atmosphere which you feel as soon as you enter the front gate of the facility. Hanson House is staffed by volunteers under the direction of our Assistant Manager and Executive Director. Our volunteers work a few hours each shift at the front desk including other responsibilities they're experienced and passionate about. They greet guests, help with familiarization of our facility and provide a hug if you are willing.
