Description

Good Shepherd is a community center located in the heart of downtown Vicksburg. It is built on the site of the first Freed Man school after the Civil War 1939. Previously one of the first African American schools in Vicksburg,, the building has housed Good Shepherd since 1986. We provide services in four different domains; Community, Preschool, Ripple Effect, and Life Ready. Within those domains are preschool, afterschool, seasonal camps, a mentoring program, Life Wurx which teacher independent living skills, and Jullia's Place, a program that teaches special needs adult work ready skills. We are also the home of Narcotics Anonymous and MASEP classes (Ms Alcohol Safety Education Program).
