Description

H.E.S. is a nonprofit Southeast Brooklyn based community center, providing important social,
recreational, cultural, educational, counseling, and health services to more than 7,000 users
annually. The agency serves a diverse population including African-Americans; a large
Caribbean population from Haiti, the West Indies, Jamaica and Panama; new Israeli residents,
émigrés from the former Soviet Union, Asians, and Jewish and Italian residents. H.E.S. responds
to demographic changes by making it a policy to welcome all and by proactively implementing
programs to advance community cohesiveness. H.E.S. serves the vulnerable and the disabled,
children, the elderly and our entire community. H.E.S., with funding from various government
agencies and private foundations, provides needed quality services enhancing the lives of all
