Mission Statement

The Apostolate for Family Consecration (AFC) supports and challenges Catholic families to grow in holiness, grow in truth, and grow together so that they can become fully alive in Christ. We offer Catholic family vacations, retreats, and resources to lead families to an encounter with Jesus and form them in the truths of our Catholic Faith.

Description

Our ministry was founded in 1975 by Jerry and Servant of God Gwen Coniker, parents of thirteen. As they raised their children, the Conikers looked for support in the Faith, but found little to help them live a holy Catholic family life. Through their experience, the Conikers recognized a call from God to support other Catholic families to grow in holiness, so they started the Apostolate for Family Consecration (AFC).

We share the message of Family Consecration to the Holy Family as the best way we know of for families to grow in holiness.

We have a number of volunteer programs for young adults including a GAP program, a summer volunteer program, and weekend volunteer events throughout the year. All these programs help to run our family retreats and conferences as well as other retreats for individual throughout the year.

St. Pope John Paul II met with our founders 14 times and St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta met with them numerous times and filmed many interviews with them. We've grown over the years and we now serve over 5,000 people each summer and many more throughout the year. This summer we welcomed 6 bishops, including Archbishop Cordileone from San Francisco and Bishop Hyacinth from Nigeria.
