Description

Audubon Chapter of Minneapolis is a volunteer-based, nonprofit organization working on bird conservation in the Twin Cities. We are special chapter; as an urban chapter on the Mississippi Flyway, we have unique opportunities to engage our diverse community of birders, and face unique challenges in addressing the major threats to birds: including collisions with buildings, light pollution, and climate change. Our chapter has worked with institutions like the Bakken Museum and Normandale Community College to incorporate bird-safe glass in their building designs. We host citizen science initiatives like the Winter Bird Count and Global Bird Rescue. We work with many local partners to connect people from all walks of life to the bird diversity in the city. Our Migration Partners program addresses the global nature of bird conservation by supporting a migratory bird banding and monitoring station in Honduras. Additionally, our EDIB+ committee is constantly finding new ways to make our organization more welcoming, accessible, and inclusive to all.
