Mission Statement

Our mission is to aid in the resettlement of refugees and immigrants by providing assistance, training, resources, and opportunities that promote self-sufficiency.

Description

ORIS guides diverse families in starting anew across Manchester, Concord (NH), and Worcester (MA). New Americans receive aid, often securing jobs in 8 months, leading to economic opportunities and well-being. From 2005, Somali Bantu refugees formed the Somali Bantu Community Association (SBCA), evolving into the Organization for Refugee and Immigrant Success (ORIS). A diverse team spanning nine countries merged with New American Africans in 2019 and opened a Worcester, MA office in 2022, forging community partnerships. Partnering with Episcopal Migration Ministries, ORIS resettles families escaping violence. In Worcester, MA, bilingual case managers swiftly secure housing, furnish apartments, and address needs. We prioritize well-being, offering 90-day support, including medical aid, shopping, transportation, and school enrollment. In partnership with Massachusetts Organization for Refugees and Immigrants, workshops aid newcomers aged 18+ within three years. Covering budgeting, debt management, home buying, and institutions, completion earns participants a $75 stipend. ORIS empowers refugees and eligible individuals through our Matching Grant program. Eligible participants not receiving TANF, RCA, SSI, or part of the ORR-funded Wilson/Fish Program receive comprehensive support. Our holistic approach includes case management, job referrals, interview prep, transportation aid, work clothing, and budget planning.
