Gentiva Hospice is expanding into Ingham County and I will have some volunteer opportunities to visits seniors on Hospice care. Some patients will be in their own home and others are in a facility. Volunteers are able to connect with Seniors by making friendly visits. People love company. Activities may include conversation, watching TV, reading, listening to music, crafts, card games and puzzles. Sometimes just being present is all that is needed. This is a time where volunteers are able to devote time to them that is strictly devoted to what they would like to do. once the requirements are met the volunteers schedule is 100% flexible to the time they have available. Requirements include the following and are all paid for by Gentiva Hospice. 1. Background Check 2. Finger Printing 3. 2 step TB test 4. Drug test (minus marijuana) 5. Paperwork and training I will meet with the Volunteer and help with all of the above to make sure they feel comfortable and prepared for this new adventure. Are you in the Jackson area looking for some volunteer hours? We service many other counties as well. Volunteering for our elderly can either be in their homes or in a facility. The time that you volunteer is 100% flexible to the time you have available which makes this a nice program. Our elders yearn for visitors - some like to be read to, watch TV with while others enjoy going for walks or doing an activity together. Our patients have all different diagnosis with one common factor that they are qualified for Hospice. Patients may be with us a short time and others for years. Visits take place in patients' own homes, as well as nursing homes and, assisted living, Volunteers are asked to provide companionship to our patients, which can include reading to them, looking through magazines or cookbooks, watching movies or sports, playing music, visiting with a pet, or simply chatting and holding a hand. Our volunteers do not provide any hands-on physical care to our patients. Our hospice volunteers have shared that they find their work to be personally gratifying and meaningful, and we hope that you will share in this experience. Our main office is located in Jackson, Michigan but we serve 5 different counties.

Gentiva Hospice is looking for people that would like to volunteer visiting patients on hospice in the Chelsea area. Patients can either be in their own home or in a facility. Patients often enjoy company as they have 24 hours in a day to fill. Working in hospice is a great way to give back to folks that have a terminal diagnosis. Some patients just like to visit while others enjoy games or watching TV. There is no hands on care. You are truly there just to brighten their day. Our main office is in Jackson Michigan and we cover 6 counties so I can easily find an area that is close for you.

Gentiva Hospice has patients in Coldwater facilities that would love to have volunteers to spend time with. Being a volunteer for hospice requires no hands on care. You are there strictly for enjoyment. Seniors look forward to do things with or just talk. This is a great opportunity for anyone over the age of18. From College Students to Senior Citizens.
